The Hansen Family
Out in Washington state resides the still-growing Hansen family. It was there that Mike and Ethan Hansen, after realizing their shared passion for building and creating things with their hands, decided to partner up and form Hansen Handmade. With the help of brother and son Lucas Hansen, they were able to get started with this website to spread knowledge and quality goods.
Mike’s Handmade Journey
"I have always been fascinated with how things work. My area of study turned to mechanical engineering. Eventually I took an interest in the art of bonsai trees. In learning about the art, it lead me to study ceramics to make bonsai pottery . That was many years ago. I still have a bowl made in my first ceramics class in 1998. I have been making things with clay off and on since that time. Its hard to believe that was over 25 years ago."
Ethan’s Handmade Journey
"From a very young age, I loved to make things. I was limited to origami and papercraft up until around age 13, when I got my first 3D printer. I started making all kinds of toys, trinkets and doohickeys. Eventually, though, I got bored of that. A couple years later, after realizing I could recreate things from my favorite media, I blew the dust off of the printer and got into making costumes and props. This reignited my love of creating and led me to acquire many more hobbies and find new methods of making things, such as blacksmithing and hatmaking."
